The story as told by Jack Koennecker (the clubs head pro back in the 60’s):
Jack was giving a playing golf lesson to one of Mr. Disneys relatives. At the end of the lesson they approached the 9th green. The relative told Jack that the course was beautiful and the only thing lacking was a nice fountain on the finishing holes. Jack said he agreed but the clubs finances at the time did not allow for such a purchase. Mr. Disney who was observing the lesson and overhearing the conversation said in order to assist with the Club’s panache, he (Walt Disney) would donate the beautiful fountain which was shipped from a storage facility in Germany. This large copper lily pad shoots jets of water over 100’ feet into the sky and also can be seen at night by the 5 sets of lights.
